A ‘Colossus’ Poker Tournament

World Series of Poker (WSOP) has announced the dates for this year’s annual world series of poker, the forty-sixth such event. The annual competition series is set to last for 49 days, from the twenty-seventh of May to the fourteenth of July and will have sixty eight events, the highlight of which will be the ‘Colossus’ poker tournament. All of the events will be conducted in Las Vegas in the Rio® All-Suit Hotel and Casino.

Historic Tournament

To be held for the first time ever, the Colossus is expected to be the largest poker tournament in history, based on the number of participants. Starting on May 29, the tournament is expected to go on for five days in two stages, the first stage lasting for five days and the second stage for four days. The fifth event in this year’s competition, it will have two starting days with each day having two flights. The facilities of the hotel casino are expected to be able to handle around 24,200 players. Depending on the number of entries, the tournament may extend to another day.

Something for Everyone

The tournament has a guaranteed prize pool of 5 million dollars for each of the four flights and has a buy-in of $565; the final pot, however is expected to be much bigger. If a player is eliminated from their flight, they are eligible to join any other flight with another $565 buy-in. As this is expected to be a very popular event, you might want to pre-register.

Another change this year is that WSOP will handle its own media coverage; however, you can still follow the events on other traditional channels too. So, what are you waiting for? It’s not everyday that you get such an opportunity. Register now; who knows, this might just be your lucky year
